Lido to open its doors a fortnight early
Swimmers will be able to take a dip at Portishead Open Air Pool two weeks early after the facility announced it will be extending the 2019 season.
The lido will be opening its doors from April 6, with heated swimming on offer right through to October. The café will be open daily from April 1 through to end of September.
Over 53,000 people visited the lido last summer – the busiest it has ever been since Portishead Pool Community Trust took over the operation in 2009.
Thousands more also attended special events including the pool’s popular Christmas and New Year heated swims and various charity events.
On May 25, the pool will be marking 10 years since it received its televised makeover and opened its doors for the first time as a volunteer organisation.
To celebrate the occasion, the lido will be holding an open day with live music and a ‘music fest’ in the evening, in partnership with Gordano Breakfast Rotary Club.
Volunteer drop-in sessions are also being held from April 1, 10am-2pm, where people keen to help can find out more information.
